From The Gilded Age to the 1960s, Carrie Coon’s latest role as Jean Cole in Boston Strangler might be the most true-to-life yet for this multi-tasking, female-empowering, Emmy-nominated actor and all-round super mum.

Carrie Coon is midway through telling me about packing up the family home in Chicago to move to New York to film the second season of HBO period drama The Gilded Age when she announces, “My baby is crying.” Her motherhood antenna is clearly on alert as it takes a moment before the sound of a small infant sobbing penetrates our Zoom call. Without missing a beat, she continues matter-of-factly, “I think I might have to go help get her to sleep for a minute. Do you mind?”
 
Coon returns to the screen a few minutes later, her adorable 14-month-old daughter in her arms. “She loves a new face,” she explains as we coax her into giving us a smile before her mum carries her back to bed, breezily waving a bottle of milk and declaring, “She’s going to go to sleep and then we can talk for hours.” Sure enough, the multi-tasking actor is back in no time, her daughter now peacefully napping.

Naomi Watts Covers AMAZING Magazine | Issue 3

Fresh from a stylishly standout performance in Netflix’s The Watcher and back on set for FX’s Feud: Capote’s Women, twice Oscar-nominated actor Naomi Watts is also turning her hand to something entirely new: supporting and educating women through menopause.

Naomi Watts is having a renaissance. While the twice Oscar-nominated actor has never been far from our screens since director David Lynch cast her in 2001’s Mulholland Drive, and a star turn in 2002’s The Ring soon followed, Watts was recently initiated into the Ryan Murphy Universe. Rarely a one and done job (see Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett et al), Watts has gone right from having the most-viewed series on Netflix during The Watcher’s release week, to filming the second instalment of Murphy’s FX anthology series, Feud.

Evangeline Lilly cuts an inconspicuous figure when she arrives at her AMAZING cover shoot in Los Angeles' Arts District on a sleepy November Sunday. Much like her character Hope Van Dyne (aka Wasp), in Marvel’s Ant-Man franchise, she has mastered the art of going incognito. Dressed casually, with a cap pulled over her pixie cut, Lilly does the rounds introducing herself before heading to hair and makeup. Emerging in a white Jonathan Simkhai pantsuit and flawless glam, she is ready to roll, constantly shapeshifting for photographer Shane McCauley’s lens and pausing only to banter with the crew or chat with the studio owner’s young daughter who is watching intently from the sidelines.

As the impossibly chic and insouciant Sylvie Grateau in hit TV series Emily in Paris, French actor Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu has won a legion of fans worldwide – and learnt how to ‘not give a damn’ in her own life.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu is bang in the middle of promotional work for the new series of Emily in Paris and, even though it’s well into Parisian happy hour on a Friday night, she has graciously given up a chunk of her evening to talk to AMAZING. Her only request is that she speaks to me off-camera. “I am a bit tired. I just don’t want to turn the [Zoom] camera on, if you don’t mind,” she says politely.
 
It’s something you can imagine Sylvie Grateau, her character in the hit Netflix show, saying – but somewhat more forcefully. Since she first sashayed onto our streaming screens in Emily in Paris two years ago, as the formidable and fabulously dressed boss of a Paris marketing agency, the French star has become a beacon of inspiration for women everywhere – both young and old. So popular has she/Sylvie become that fans are agitating for a spin-off with Leroy-Beaulieu as the lead.

Jennifer Connelly is many things to many people; muse to Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, co-star to Tom Cruise in the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick and mom to three kids who she’s raising with husband, Paul Bettany. Now, Jennifer adds AMAZING magazine’s debut cover star to that list, appearing in our launch issue wearing entirely Louis Vuitton Cruise 2022.
 
Shot in New York by Alexi Lubomirski and styled by Patrick Mackie, Jennifer is the perfect Louis Vuitton spokesperson, but even more than that she is an advocate for creative director Nicolas Ghesquière – her friend of 20 years. The two first met when Nicolas dressed Jennifer for the 2002 Academy Awards, the year she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Alicia Nash in A Beautiful Mind.
